SOP: Bulk Edit SEO Titles & Descriptions with Yoast

Click on Tools from the Yoast SEO Settings Tab

To start, open 4 things on your computer:

  1. Client WordPress Dashboard
  2. Client GMB Knowledge Panel
  3. ChatGPT
  4. Excel / Google Sheets

Click on Bulk editor

Click on Bulk editor

Click on Title or Description

We will be using a chatGPT prompt to generate the SEO optimized descriptions and page titles in bulk in the next steps.

Click on Published

This will allow us to only work on the Published pages, instead of the drafts and private pages.

<p>Click on Published</p>

Drag and select the entire table of WP Page Titles, and then copy and paste it into excel.

Paste it into Excel with the “match destination formatting” feature to get only black text instead of different colours and hyperlinks.

Once pasted, select the column with the page titles in it (including the Edit | View cells is OK)

Ex:
WP Page Title
Divorce Lawyers in Surrey, BC
Edit | View
Do You Need A Prenup or Cohabitation Agreement?
Edit | View

and then go to a new tab with ChatGPT in it and paste it into the bottom of this prompt, without hitting submit:

Given this information, create a table of SEO-optimized page {meta descriptions} based on the column of page titles below:

and add it to the chatGPT prompt from the previous step.

Now, copy and paste your relevant meta descriptions for the pages that are missing

Or, if the Existing Yoast Meta Description is not optimized / irrelevant, you can override it as well.

Repeat the same process for all of the missing Yoast meta descriptions.

Click on Save all once you’ve pasted all of them.

Click on Next page › and start the copy and pasting process over again,

Copy and paste the WP titles into excel and then back into chatgpt, and repeat the process.

At the end, once you’ve completed all pages, repeat the same process until Page Titles and Page Descriptions are all fully optimized and saved.
